The
name of the business comes from the King's Beam which stands on
Topsham quay. D.M. Bradbeer's Guide (1968) describes it as :
A great iron stock, known as the King's Weighers, still stands
in its original position at the rear of the quay. The gaunt, outspread
arms are all that remain of the huge scales which once weighed the
bales of wool, and all the other merchandise which flowed into and
out of the port
Today it is known as the King's Beam and is an
instantly recognisable symbol for Topsham - the historic port on
the River Exe where Mary's family have lived and worked for over
200 years.
We specialise in uncluttered, elegant and functional
sites, designed to fit individual needs and tested in a variety
of browsers. If you really want an all-singing-all-dancing site
then we will happily oblige - once we're quite sure that's what
you really need. We don't believe in fancy features just for their
own sake, and if we don't think they'll add value to your site we'll
explain why.
